David Michaels graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Boston in 1983 with a B.S. in computer science. He has worked as a software engineer in a variety of areas and organizations since that time, including MIT Lincoln Laboratory; C/C++ (and other) compiler and debugger development at Language Processors, Inc.; C++ UI library development at Liant Software and Intersolv; dotcom boom era backend infrastructure at Lycos; mobile search at JumpTap; and most recently, general backend development at Cartera, Rakuten, and HYPR. He joined the backend software team at the Harvard Medical School Department of Biomedical Informatics in May 2022.
