Cancer Research UK's Grand Challenge

March 11, 2019

The Park lab has been funded by Cancer Research UK’s Grand Challenge, which provides £20M over 5 years to a team to work on toughest problems in cancer research. Our team, led by our long-time collaborator Steve Elledge, includes a number of investigators from US/UK/Netherlands. We will attempt to understand why there is such tissue-specificity in cancer drivers--i.e., why one oncogene causes cancer in one tissue but does not in another.

At the annual meeting of the 4D Nucleome consortium

December 5, 2018
Members of the DCIC (Data Coordination and Integration Center) traveled to San Diego for the Annual Meeting of the 4D Nucleome project. From the HMS group were curators Andy, Koray, Sarah, and Luisa; postdoctoral fellows Su Wang and Hu Jin; and co-leaders Burak and Peter.  Peter gave a talk outlining the superb work that the team has been doing all year. Particularly impressive were the beautiful web interface by Alex Balashov, 4DN JupyterHub by Carl, and and publication pages by our curators.  Check it out: https://data.4dnucleome.org/ Read more about At the annual meeting of the 4D Nucleome consortium

More new members to the team!

August 8, 2018

In the last few months, we had additional members joining our team! We'd like to welcome Hu Jin, Shannon Ehmsen, and Luisa Mercado!

Hu is a postdoc who joined us back in July. He received his PhD in Physics from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. In the park lab, he is working on development and application of computational methods for integration of three-dimensional chromosomal interaction data with DNA mutation data. Shannon is a undergraduate student at Northeastern University who is doing her co-op as a graphic designer for the 4DN team and ...

Welcome to our newest members!

March 21, 2018

We are excited to announce the addition of new members to our lab during the past couple of months.

A belated welcome to our newest Postdoc, Jinkuk Kim who joined us back in October of 2017. Jinkuk earned his PhD in Bioinformatics and Integrative Genomics at MIT and worked as a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist at Deep Genomics in Toronto, Canada before joining us.

Finding mutations in single neurons, in collaboration with the Walsh Lab

December 7, 2017

Congratulations to Craig Bohrson, Alison Barton, and Daniel Kwon, three of the six co-lead authors of a recently published paper in Science, discussing the increased accumulation of mutations in neurons as people age. The paper was the result of a collaborative effort with the Walsh Lab of Boston Children's Hospital. The link to the paper is here; the paper was featured in...
